Meinbender Amazing 3D Claymation

I just had to post this.  I think this is some of the best character work I’ve seen in a long time.  Swedish animation company Meinbender created a series of ID’s for Cartoon Network.  They are not only beautifully rendered, but the motion will have you wondering how the hell they did that in 3D.   According to their site, they use the Maxwell render engine.  Nice look!  Hopefully we’ll see some behind the scenes stuff from them. (links lifted from motionographer…thanks)

MR Tutorial - Studio Lighting Prt 2

Here is part two of my studio lighting series.  This one covers how to render you items over a completely white background and the second half shows you how to render out your own fully spherical hdr studio light images for future use.  The next installment will cover how to up the photo-realness by adding imperfections to your sky portals.  Enjoy!

Autodesk Plans to Re-Structure Max

Ken Pimentel talks a bit about the re-structuring of 3DS Max in his latest blog post.  “We decided that for 3ds Max to remain relevant for the next 20 years, we’d have to restructure a substantial portion of it.”

I’ve heard rumors and whispers about this “re-structuring”.  From what I’ve been told, it sounds very exciting.  I’m hoping that Autodesk releases more info soon…for now, read Ken’s post here.
