My hats off to the five artists who allegedly spent three months on a fourty frame shot for Transformers Two. I haven’t seen the film, but I may now just to catch this shot…I better not blink.

What’s Next?

So, I’ve asked this question before but here it goes again. Please send me an email or respond to this post and let me know what kind of tutorial/tip/review you’d like to see. I was thinking about putting a video together of little Max tips (scripts i use, etc). Or I could do one on how to create convincing ice with Vray. I would love your feedback so that I could get an idea of what everyone is wanting to see more of.

On a side note, we’ve just begun rolling out 3ds Max 2010 at the studio and as soon as we’ve completed one job using it, I’ll review it.

Take Care,

-chad

Vray exr workflow

Vray EXR Tip from chad smashley on Vimeo.

So here is a quick tip on how to get Vray to render out mutli-channel exrs and how to get After Effects to read them.  If you dont have Vray, you can download the exr used in this tutorial here.  Enjoy!  BTW, please let me know if there is a topic you’d like me to cover in my next post.

get your proexr plugins here.

EDIT: I was just made aware that After Effects CS4 has the proexr plugins built in. So if your using the new version, you’re good to go.
